Okay, an online friend of mine's brother just won $25,000 in a Snicker's contest with the above video.
I mean, it's cute and all....but $25,000. The lighting is atrocius. And it's not drastically funny. I mean, it was cute and playful in that Napolean Dynamite sort of way. But compared to a lot of the stuff I've seen Joey Lawrence put out...
$25,000!!!!!!
I am in the wrong day job.

I don't think it has all that much to do with the quality of the video. They are buying the song and concept. Nice to know someone's still paying decent cash for thier advertising. |

Yes, the lighting had a bad color cast, but it was a nice job of editing and cutaways on that video.

It's because of the 'bad quality' that it won.
It looks amateurish, and has a real youtube feel to it. |

Nah....it was actually one of about 4-5 of the least amateurish. Many others were way worse production quality and not even funny.
It's just that I never imagined that such a low-budget, low-quality campy little video could win $25,000.

I think it was more the song than the video. If Joey knows someone who can write a song, then he woulda whupped bewtocks.

I just looked up the original competition. The competition was, as I suspected for the SONG and Singer not so much the video which is there to help promote the song and concept.

Umm, that looked and sounded horrible, which means it's perfect for a jingle! |
