Anyone want to take bets on which side of 5 I finish on?

This is my first challenge.I can't seem to view stats on my submission; or even sure how to. Perhaps I can't being only a registered user and not a member.
Thanks in advance for help.

I don't get it. I took what I thought was my best entry yet and here is what I'm getting, which isn't bad, but not what I expected:

It came out just like I wanted and I had almost 0 PP (pretty much just resize).

On maybe a related topic, a lot of my photos are getting comments that they are too dark. When I vote, the grayscale meter does blend a little at the dark end, which makes me think I would over compensate by making things brighter.

Maybe I just like dark images....

Literally dark (not enough light) or dark imagery? If it is the overall picture is not bright enough, it could be your peripheral (monitor) settings. My first couple of entries were too bright because I edited them on a PC with a really 'dark' monitor.

Well, up to two comments (and score is up just a bit), but both comments are complimentary of the image. Still no indications of why people are handing out lots of 4's on it.

In the case of this challenge, I shot some stuff and the brighter areas of the shot looked blown out on the LCD on the camera. Maybe I should be reviewing them with the max info that shows the brightness histogram and the zebra pattern on blown out parts.

So I tend to push toward the darker end to prevent the blown out stuff. But even the picture I submitted, where a commentor thought it was dark, I had boosted the exposure in RAW a half stop.

I'm thinking of getting one of those spyder monitor calibrators. Anyone use one before?

I don't think my subjects are "dark", I just seem to like the darker tones.

I had my entry in the Faceless Portrait challenge suffer because it was dark. I unfortunately don't have any calibrating devices but looking at the calibration chart beneath entries when you vote I could see the whole range of shades fine. I know this may not be the best method of having the brightness set but it works well with my printer too so I stick with it. Unfortunately monitors vary and voters didn't like it too much so I viewed it on some other monitors and on some I could see it properly and others I couldn't.

It's amazing what a psychological effect that number 6 has. A shot containing it seems soooooooo much better than one that sits at 5.9999!
(and for those like Doc, kiwiness, librodo, most of the Icelanders, etc., replace 6 with 7 or 8 ;) )

I think Langdon needs to code a bias of 1.0 vote for everyone using iceland IP :D

I don't know. Brain...too tired to think....I was thinking somehow or another I was getting pegged with -1 based on my low scores.
