| I have the opportunity to buy a Nikon D70 camera with a AF-S Nikkor18-70mm lense. Tha asking price is 400.00-500.00. I bought my first digital last year and it just has a small zoom built into the camera. I would like a camera that I can buy a zoom lense to take sports photos of my children. It is important that I can take quick shots...my son plays basketball. Any advice is greatly appreciated. |

I would say that $400.00 would be a fantastic deal considering the lens in excellent condition goes for around $250.00. The D70 is a great camera just look at  ursula's portfolio for proof. :-)
The 18-70 is a medium range zoom and they make many lenses that will fit that camera. If its in good condition seems to me you can't go wrong.

No matter which camera you buy you'll need fast lens for sports. Best one is 70-200 VR f2.8

yup. or some advanced flash techniques, but lets not get sidetracked. :)

it is a great price and the D70 is a easy to use camera

| might be interesting to try and find out how many accuations the shutter has had. But $500 for a D70 (no S, i assume) is pretty good! |
