Welcome to DPC, Monica - this place will slap you around! =) But cheer up, looks like lots of us are in the same boat as you - I also thought I was going for a personal best, and now I'm just hoping to hit my average.

What can we do but watch the shots that do well and try to improve!

Shoulda entered the safe one. I didnt think this one would score high because I saw faults in it, but decided to anyway. Curiosity killed the cat.

Hehe...I'd appreciate the full point below that at the moment! But, I have pride and I'm not gonna self DQ it! I rushed my shot just to get something in and I'm paying the price! So be it...give me your worst!! ;)

This totaly is horrid!! And I think my pic is very good and does meet the challenge, contrary to the comment I got. My husband read the comment this morning, I left the page up, disgusted him lol. I told him that was the way it goes.

Still trying to get my first 6 :( Things hanging at 5.98. Hope your scores go up and you achieve your goals :) Good luck... (however, even if you deserve it, you still might not get it, damn voters).

I'm in about the same situation as you Monica - second challenge and not a good score :(

But well, hopefully I'll score better soon :)

Noel, I understand completely. We all have our personal benchmarks to mark our entry a 'success','average', or 'below average'. My goal is to simply get a 5.5. DEFINITELY is not going to happen on this challenge. Actually, mine is scoring about where I figured voters would put it. I just wish they would tell me why. I 'think' I know what could have been better, but nothing was "bad" in my opinion. I'd give it about a 5. Just couldn't get the lighting I wanted and that was my only morning to shoot.

Thanks Adam :D I looked at your previous entries and think you could beef up and get your 5.5 with some stronger PP, give me a shout next time round and I'll be glad to provide some comments/suggestions :) I guess I'm the opposite, I think my shots are sosolala, but the PP kicks them into the 5-6 zone. Good luck again :)

edit: ohh, almost forgot lol... still hanging by a thread here :)

Some very creative shots, but a LOT of shots that either A. Use a lake or ocean as the "mirror" (somewhat lacks originality after last times challenge) & B. Don't even fit the criteria, i.e. shots submitted just for the sake of submitting something. My votes are really using the full range of 1-10 atm.

I think with that score you have found yourself in an Achoo/Ursula sandwich. One of us is higher, one is lower and we are struggling against each other in the MS challenge.

Thanks, I may take you up on that. PP is definitely my weakest area. I'm not about to say I'm on par composition wise with so many talented photographers on this site, but I'm happy with most of my comps and they will improve too as my photographic 'eye' improves. Still have a lot to learn about lighting. The PP has a LOOOOONNNNNGGG, long way to go before I'm up to speed. Saw 4.7 briefly today before being knocked back down to the 4.5-4.6 range again. I think I know what could have improved, but voters sure aren't trying to give me any clues, lol.
