I am finally the proud owner of a dSLR camera! I finally saved up enough money to place my order yesterday. In 3 days I will have a brand new Pentax k100d in my hands! :D

Other K100D owners have had great results, too.

What lens(es) are you going to use?

Being the poor college student that I am, I am going to have to make do with the kit lens and a F/1.8 50mm prime manual focus from my parents' old Pentax Super ME they don't use anymore. But I do plan on getting a nice zoom within the next 6 months-year.

It's addicting...before you know it, you'll have lenses, extension tubes, bags, filters, rechargeable batteries, etc. Take your time...you don't have to get it all at once. :-)

Oh yeah, I know it's gonna be addicting, lol. I'm already trying to find lenses and find out what I'm gonna get next. I ordered from butterflyphoto.

Alright...be easy on me...I've enjoyed the dominance of the K1000D here at DPC (6 of the Top 10 are mine). The more Pentax users that come along, the more I need to hone my skills! <grin!>

After a quick search of completed auctions on eBay, a Fujifilm Finepix S9500 sold as high as $534 (USD). You should be able to get a Pentax K100D for only $600 (USD) or less.

Just something to consider. ;-)

MSU is my alma mater (and my wife's). Love the school, but boy does our football team suck this year. Was nice beating Bama last weekend though.

Should be some good architecture around the university for some challenge shots. Plus the refuge is not too far away for some nature shots.

Well, the new camera came in today and I love it so far. Takes great pics! I'm going to try to have an entry in with it this week if I can think of something for one of the challenges.

Question for you k100d owners.....have you had any trouble with your camera?? I took mine to a basketball game today and put it in shutter priority mode and after the first shot it switched itself to auto and never would go back to shutter priority.
