I'm encouraged my my top 20 finish in the Free Study with this shot.

I took this photo for a contest called "A Day in the Life of Burlignton." All entries must be taken within the city limits, within the same 24 hour period (Nov 1st), and no editing allowed. There are 400 entries, which will be printed on 8x10" sheets, and judged independantly by three pro photographers.

Here's a link to last years winners. This year's winners will be announced at a reception on Nov. 30, I think.

What are my odds? Wish me luck!

Oh ya, I think prizes are something like a dSLR body & lens for best of show, a variety of point & shoots for category winners, and nick-nacks for runners-up.

Whee! I don't want to get my hopes up, but of course my wife is convinced I'm going to win simply because her beautiful daughter is in the shot, plus she's very supportive of me that way. ;-)

Here's a shot my wife took with my old A95 the same day. They're pretty friendly birds in this area. :-)

The awards ceremony was last night at the Art Centre. 200 or so people showed up. I got an honourable mention, and my shot went up on the big projection screen up front while I went up to get my certificate and hand shakes.

My wife had to stay home with sick little Shelby (in photo), but I brought my 8 year old Delaney along. We had a blast and she was SO proud of her daddy!!!
