If you live under despotism you may not get away with publishing a photo showing your opinion of it ... : ( |

But really how could you call that kind of choice democratic anyway? I'm tired of the 2 party system. I feel like it's hardly democratic. Who wins doesn't matter. Democracy has no chance no matter what party is in control. |
I was in the same boat when Clinton was up for re-election. I voted for a third party candidate. I suggest you do the same, if possible. It is NOT throwing away your vote. The two parties are most likely to change their platforms when votes for third parties are up. I do agree with you, however, that the two party system sucks. |
To me this makes no sense because why would I vote for something that I don't believe in? I think that would be throwing away my vote. Maybe that's just me though...
About the whole idea of voting in the primaries...That basically misses my whole point. Deciding between typical democrat/republican #1 and typical democrat/republican with more money #2 hardly seems like a choice either. Why is it that if I don't like certain ideas about my party, I have to either suck it up or go to the other party, which probably has its own things I don't like. American democracy has become way too polarized...there needs to be more choices towards the middle of things. No more of this all or nothing politics.

Except for the wind challenge I can't remember the last flag shot I saw entered so I guess you must have a lot of hate there. I'm tired of seeing the same Icelandic landscapes over and over which must outnumber the flag shots by something like 1,000 to 1. Not a week goes by where there isn't one or more on the front page let alone the top ten of almost EVERY challenge.
ETA: Sorry I'm just so tired of this American bashing already.

No, I mean find a third-party candidate that is closer to your beliefs than the major parties. For me it was Ralph Nader. But I did NOT vote for him in 2000, when the Republicans went way too far right with their choice.

Speaking of "free and fair elections" ... maybe time the US finally allowed UN monitors in ...
Election news from Virginia
Exerpt:
Over the past several days, voters throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia have filed complaints of incidents aimed at suppressing voter turn out in heavily Democratic and African American neighborhoods. Today, the Secretary of the Virginia State Board of Elections Jean Jensen concluded that the incidents appear widespread and deliberate.
âThere are now credible reports from multiple jurisdictions around the Commonwealth that establish a pattern of dirty tricks being employed to confuse and frustrate Virginia's voters from exercising their right to vote tomorrow. In addition to reports that have been received by the Democratic Party of Virginia, these local election officials have been receiving reports from concerned voters,â said Jack Young, co-chair of Promote the Vote. |

I'd say intellectually lazy. There's a difference between exploring a subject and exploiting a subject and I think we have too much of the latter here. Far easier to just mass produce the same old thing than to try something different. Doesn't even have to be a political challenge it could be just an "issues" challenge or something rooted in importance for a change.

I would not be surprised. What George Allen and his cronies expected to be a walk-over has turned into a dogfight.
This has turned into one of the dirtiest campaigns I can remember and I cannot wait to see the outcome....I'm voting Democrat BTW as are a lot of people who normally vote Republican.
Remember..people were touting George Allen as a potential Presidential candidate..I would say that has gone by the wayside :-)
