This Tuesday is our favorite time of year in America..Election Day.

How about we get people to go out and show us images from arguably the greatest day in America...

Show us photos from the various polling spots..the victory parties or the losers parties. Show us what the day in politics looks like in your part of the world.

To take this worldwide..show us photos of what Democracy or politics means to you where you are in the world.

Tomorrow's election could go down in U.S. history, either as the day democracy was saved, or the day it was let go of... then again, with Diebold controlling so many voting machines, it may just be Peterson's choice.

Noooooo..LOL My 3yr old is sick and my 4 year old doesn't have school today so I had to turn down this assignment with the paper! (It is Tuesday morning here in Guam)

Good idea. :) However, this site has such a large international crowd that I don't think this challenge would apply. Then again, I couldn't enter the train challenge because there are no trains in Guam...LOL

considering that both sides see that oppositely, the US will be simultaneously in both states depending on what your view is.

That's the fun thing about democracy, nobody wins!

Baloney. Anyone voting Republican in this election doesn't have a sense of the impending doom of democracy. Their guys are in power, which is good, but they have varying levels of disgust with them. For them, a loss just means a deadlock between Legislative and Executive. For me, a loss means at least two more years of passing laws that sneer in the face of the Constitution. After those two years are up, it may be too late.

You are right, I want to vote republican but my choices in my party are not good, I'm not going to vote for either candidate in those races. But really how could you call that kind of choice democratic anyway? I'm tired of the 2 party system. I feel like it's hardly democratic. Who wins doesn't matter. Democracy has no chance no matter what party is in control.

If you are tired of thesame ole - same ole get out and work to change it. There are a lot of very smart people who want simplicity in their government.

That means people who believe that lower taxes and more transparent law making and spending leads to less government and more accountability.

Take a look at Arizona's Jeff Flake. This guy fights an uphill battle against government bloat and lobbyists but constantly gets hammered down by all the same old politics.

Jeff Flake was so unpopular at first because he didn't "Bring Home the Bacon" and the mayors in his congressional district wouldnt support him. Now he runs unopposed because he is so popular. But few congressman have the guts to keep taking the abuse.

Find more congressman willing to stand up and fight for regular people and work for them, volunteer. People cost a lot of money. Donating 10 hours a week to a congressman in the middle of a campaign is worth tens of thousands of dollars to that candidate.

I donate photography time, covering events and graphic design time to people I support.

To me, simplicity isn't good when I have basically NO choice in an election. Does that make me less smart than the people who would rather throw 10 issues up for discussion over and over and say you're either for us or against us? That's horrible. I agree you have to go out and change it but I kinda have no time or money to do that, so I'm kinda stuck there. And I think a lot of people are in the same boat. I do think you're challenge idea is good. It could get interesting tomorrow.

I was in the same boat when Clinton was up for re-election. I voted for a third party candidate. I suggest you do the same, if possible. It is NOT throwing away your vote. The two parties are most likely to change their platforms when votes for third parties are up. I do agree with you, however, that the two party system sucks.

No ideal forms exist. But it means something to strive for them.

But more to the point. If you don't like your choices then the time to affect that is in the primary. If you don't vote in the general then that is the same as voting for the opposition... something that to me is kinda a stupid thing to do... but that is just me.

For example, in this election round I'm very upset with the internet gambling law that Frist sneaked into the Ports law. I don't like the law and think that it will ultimately be overturned because of WTO problems. But since this went in after the primary it won't be until 2008 that I can express my displeasure...

Is the idea of democracy, or socialism or despotism or whatever you live under too difficult a subject?

Or is it photography that includes ideas beyond pretty girls and flowers and landscapes too controversial?
