i haven't used the software before so i was fooling around with it this morning. i'm not sure which i like better, the "neat" one or the not so neat one.

any opinions?

Great shot! Instead of neat image, if you have Photoshop, try a little Diffuse glow and see what happens.

I like the Sharper one.(#1)But both are good.

I prefer the first as well but I agree they are both great still. you didnt over-do the neat image. it's done very nicely.

thanks! i've been really hesitant to use it. i worried it'd change my images too much but i really want (edit: need) to work on my post processing skills so i took the plunge.

If you have bought Neat Image and have the PS plugin, then select by color range on the original, select the greens and yellows, reverse the selection, and Neat Image that. Then you'll preserve the detail in the grass and still have the nice effect on the stones.

I don't use NI but NN. You can always go under the Edit dropdown and use the Fade to back it off a bit, instead of doing it all over again or decrease the amount some.
