I just wanted to share these since there were a few of us working on some Maternity Self Portraits, or had planned on doing upcoming Maternity Sessions. I THOUGHT about entering the color photo in this Month's Free Study, but decided I did not want my meaningful photo torn apart for any technical mishaps you might see. I love them both too much for me personally. I also may have overstepped the Advanced Editing rules. I am proud to say I accomplished these without my wireless remote (which seems to be missing)and using manual focus.
Is it just me, or is the upper left corner of the color shot too dark? Any suggestions how to lighten that area. I have tried, but I actually find I like it darker. Maybe I don't know what I am doing in PS Elements though.

Thank you Crystal! I tried to play with the dodge tool a bit, but not much luck on lightening that area. I also don't know much about using masks or if it is possible in PSE. |

While they are good shots, something you could have done to make them great would be to not shoot against such a contrasting background. They distract from the subject. That beautiful soft glowing light should be lighting you- not the background :0) Open up the blinds, throw a white sheet over the window and shoot with it to the side of you. play with that scenario.
Good Luck! :0)
