You know... it's that one with the yellow squares on it. The one with the pink car parked in front. The one with the fine lunches.

I beg to differ. I believe it's the one with the yellow circles.

Avalon? I remember several of those cars all in a row near this hotel.

.
I lived in Miami Beach for years. It's not the Clevelander, nor is it the Edison or Lesley. How about the Cardoza, or the Breakwater?

Nope, neither the Cardozo nor the Breakwater. It's not the Avalon either. It's driving me crazy...

I don't believe so. The Avalon does not have the rounded deco corners.
I used to ride my bike all throughout South Beach way before it became popular. In fact, most of those hotels were barricaded, decrepit, and home to the homeless.
Edit: Corrected a typo.

You could always click every one on the map and see if they have pictures. :oP

Do you know if it is on Ocean Drive or on Collins Avenue?

Not positive, but I'd start on Ocean Drive.

OK, this is sorta fun. I've looked at the shots I was taking around that shot. I've figured out I was walking south on Collins Ave and the next shot is the Sherbrooke which is on Collins at 9th. So it must be on Collins north of 9th and likely on the end of a block. It must be on the west side of the street since the car is parked in that direction.
Will keep looking on Google earth and the maps... :) |

OK, I've located it, but I'm not sure if it's a hotel or not. Maybe that's the problem. It is located on the south west corner of 14th and Collins ave.
Who wants to hop down there and find out for me? :)
I zoomed the picture up and saw the reflection in the car's hubcap. The hotel across the street had 3 palms in front of it. Sure enough I saw that on google earth as I was cruising north on Collins. The building across the street looks like this one with blue awnings and a rounded corner. |

Are you sure it's the SW corner of 14th and Collins?
I did a MapPoint search and the hotel on that corner is the Beachcomber. Doing an image search produced photos that don't match yours (especially the round corners and three wall circles in descending size).
BTW, I sent an email to my "best man" in our wedding, who still lives in Miami (grew up on Miami Beach). Let's see what he says tomorrow.

If you look on Google Earth you will see the building on the SW corner of 14th and collins has a rounded facade. The Beachcomber is 1340 collins and I believe is 2 or 4 buildings south of the one I'm talking about. |

Ah, yes a tried and true method to locate something, check the other pictures you took.
Reminds me when I lost my glasses one time while out taking pictures of cactus blossoms well off the beaten path. I retraced my waunderings by backing up through my pictures and looking for visual clues in the pictures that I recognized in my surroundings. I found my glasses on the 14th picture back. Photo detective work is fun.

Happy Dance! Happy Dance!
Well, the hotel I spotted in the hubcap was the South Beach Plaza Villas. I gave them a call (reach out and touch someone, right?) He easily told me the building is an apartment building called The Commodore. I found a confirmation on google images when searching for that...
The Commodore

Great sleuthing, Jason. I had been looking for a hotel and that explains it. I'll let my buddy know to pull in the search party.
