Not my photos, just don't see any reason for them to suffer or DQ. |
I'm not against moving them, but I feel the votes should stay. If they start today with no votes, they may receive fewer overall votes and their final score may be higher or lower. I'm thinking higher, since many scores seem to go up after the first day or so. |
This is one of many subtle reasons why moving photos from one challenge to another is a logistical nightmare, not to mention a very, very slippery slope. |

Why would entering an image into the "wrong" challenge be any different than any other mistake? Surely we've all seen entries that apparently mis-read the description and entered say, something "dusky" instead of something "ducky" (just a made up example). Or entries that may have been shot for a just-closed challenge. Or experimental images that got left in when the photog intended to upload a new one. If it's the wrong image in the wrong challenge - for any reason - I think it should stay where it is and I'll treat it the same as any other DNMC.

Maybe it is a language issue too, I mean for us English speakers its quite obvious what they mean but to someone from other country it may be confusing because the titles are similar might be that they thought they put it to the right one..

OK, so I was being a dumb softie again when I said SC might consider waving the penalty for situations like this one. Don't worry, guys, with all the hard liners around here, nobody stays a "softie" long. And that was a nasty thing to say.
What I mean is that I think, actually I'm sure, that SC is not out to "get" people or just "penalize" people. It's NO FUN to hand out DQs. I do not like doing it even in cases where people are obviously cheating. If there are special circumstances, we always take them into account.
Oh well. I need another coffee to wake up and look at this beautiful world around us. |

I would hate for a portrait to win a landscape challenge, or a landscape to win a portrait challenge. How about a DNMC vote for the actual vote and then what you would have scored it in the correct challenge as a comment. This lets the photog know it is a good shot, but lets the challenge topic remain important. |

She put her portrait in landscape. Poor kid, she's gonna be crushed when I tell her. ... |
Thanks for sharing this. I think we should all give her 10's to raise her spirits. :D |

I'm going to guess that the photos in the "wrong" challenge will garner far more (positive) comments and a higher "would've-been" score than if they'd been in the "right" challenge.
Yes, they may not be in the running for a ribbon, but I think they'll get more attention this way ... I'll have remember to try this strategy next time we have a set of such contrasting challenges ... : ) |

And what if they still get a ribbon?
Maybe that was their plan. That can definitely happen around here.
The Challenge description is "just a mere suggestion" free to the voters descretion. This stimulates creativity. Dare to be bold.
Are we discussing certain specific groups/names here during voting, too?
Is that okay now?

Well I just told Tay about her mistake. Right now she has 17 comments and a score of 2.0. She laughed at the error and decided she wants to keep it in the challenge because some of the comments are very helpful.
She's a good sport. :)
