I was wondering the same thing - have the rules changed?
no matter, I'll play along ...

The rules - 'add a letter, change a letter, remove a letter....yes, the rules changed'
Since we seem to be kinda stuck, how 'bout adding a twist and using all the rules at once? Just to get going again...
I think this word works. I took the last word 'preened' and changed it to...
prevent

Well...? I guess nobody wants to play anymore or doesn't agree with my 'twist' in the rules? Anybody...?

add a letter, remove a letter = change a letter right? so back to the drawing board of changing a letter?

The last word was 'preened'
I added a 'v' making it 'preVened' - which of course is not a word.
Removed an 'e' from the original word now making it 'prevend' with my addition of a letter - which of course is still not a word.
And changed the 'd' to a 't' now having 'prevent'
If that doesn't make sense, sorry, just trying to keep the 'game' going by bending the rules rather then breaking them. Unless anybody has a better idea? Just go with it or somebody start a new word altogether...or if nobody wants to play anymore...that is a third option.

maybe getting it back down to 4 letters again will get back its popularity. |
