I am looking at getting some glass for my canon and I don't have alot of cash. A local store here has a combo of the tamron AF28-80 aspherical zoom lens and the AF70-300 DI LD Macro zoom in a price range that I can afford.
Most of of my shots are done in studio or outdoors, so I am not so worried about them being abit slower.
I was just wondering what are some peoples opinion on sharpness and quality of build.

i have the 70-300 for my sony and i love it!
For me it is solid and well made with sharp images but there is some CA focus is good but if were to buy again i would have a longer look at the sigma apo lens. |

| If it is the same 70-300mm tamron that I have, I like it fine. It however is very noisy, and seems to take a little more effort to get on focus. Overall not bad. |

I'm not too sure about the tamron lenses, but Ritz Camera has a Sigma two lense combo that is a good price. I have one of the lenses and I love it. They only cost $207.

| I picked up my Tamron 70-300 for $100 on ebay. I don't remember the dealer. I could look it up however. |

generally speaking ... you get what you pay for
i'd spend the money you have on ONE lens - do a lot of research, go to pbase.com and see other peoples shots with those lenses - read every review you can find
if the deal seems to good to be true, that's because it is
my opinion |

If you don't need the reach from the 70-300, I agree. That's a good start for quality lenses. Then save up for a longer lens.
TYPICALLY, price does reflect quality...But, there are exceptions.

exactly what i thought, when i first read the thread!
take the 28-75, it's a tack sharp lense, especially with the 350d, reaches almost the quality of primes...
