I am a rookie photographer and would like to show my pic including post processing etc for the free study to someone with experience for some honest feedback (so that I can avoid some really stupid mistakes). Am I allowed to PM my image to somewho who I've received consent from in order to receive criticism before I submit my shot. I understand there's no way to monitor such activity, yet rules are still rules, so am I allowed? :) Thanks!

A lot of people do that -- just remember whoever looks at your shot pre-challenge really shouldn't vote on it during the challenge.

I did it by accident this last challenge. I honestly did not realize that my photo qualified as Bokeh. Ursula gave me the go ahead to post (thank you). I was voted down by some people for doing so however, so I don't recomend it... Good think I am not too hung up on the score. Otherwise I would be a bit depressed.

You will probably get some different opinions on this, but personally I don't feel comfortable showing my work before the end of a challenge to anybody that could vote. I also have never gotten help with processing on an entry until after the challenge. If you know what you want to do to your shot, you could simply ask "how do you..." (darken an area, sharpen, or whatever it is you want to do). To me, part of what makes a shot mine is the way I process it. I use my minimum amount of knowledge and skill, do the best I can with my entries, and take my scores, then use what I learn to hopefully do better next time.

That sounds fair. Thank you for the feedback

Thanks for the info, I'll keep it to one person.
