- Methanol... be very careful here! You need very high purity laboratory-grade methanol. Look for proucts that have residues of less than 5ppm. You're looking for "reagent grade", "HPLC grade" or such. Normal lab-grade methanol *will* leave more behind than you bargain for. The desired grades are usually sold by lab/chemical supply houses (e.g. Baxter) and run about $30 USD per half liter. It may very well be cheaper in the long run to just buy Eclipse. |
I agree with kirbic on that last count. I bought my methanol at a camera store. I bought kimwipes because I know then and couldn't find pecpads.

Hmmmm...IMO those streaks seem very "regular" to be smudges or residue of some sort...I'm not sure what that is...

It almost looks like digital interference.
Neat image might clear it up. |

Not sure... but Noise Ninja (at acceptible levels) can't touch it. I suppose I could select the blues and run a guassian blur. Would like to try to find the source of the problem rather than deal with it in post.

yeah, that's what I was thinking reading this whole thread. It looks more like banding to me. Very much like what some of the initial D200's had. Just a guess.

Might be time to start looking at a 20D or 30D ... :-)

I reckon that it looks more like an electronic problem than anything else, the pattern is too uniform for it to be gunk or otherwise on the sensors etc.
If you use any other electronic or similar equipment always near the camera when you are shooting, try moving the camera away from that and seeing if it makes a difference, otherwise I'd suggest sending it for repair, or replacing it with a lovely 400 or 30D. |
