The lowest lowlife is entitled to a competent defense -- that's what makes (or used to make) our system of justice different from and better than that found under Mr. Hussein's regime and in many other parts of the world. |
Hear hear. The system protects everyone equally as it should. The irony of democracy is that the masses aren't democratic. They agree with the freedom of speech until something is said that they disagree with. It's the elite that protect the democratic ideology.
Nice photo. The DOF helps isolate the subject well and keeps it from being a snapshot IMO. However, The problem with political photos is that people's opinion of the photo will be affected positively or negatively by whether or not they agree with your stance. I happen to agree but don't think its likely he'll be impeached.

I looked and commented on the photo already. It's an average photo whose real (sole) merit is the political controversy it inspires. That's about it. Like I said, I think if you erased the slogan already on the board, it's the type of photo that could be used on websites and such to pimp whatever slogan of the day was desired. Again, good luck. |

I fail to understand how differences of opinion is undemocratic, and how you got there from a right to a fair and speedy trial is beyond me. Seems to me that differences of opinion define democracy rather than nullify it.
The "elite" on all sides only protect democracy until it affects their wallet, and would rather indoctrinate you than inform or tell the truth to you. They have no interest in Freedom beyond getting into his sister Capitalism's pants and having a good time.
Anyways, as I already said, dude does have a right to his opinion, but I think I'd find someone more, um, well actually less stoned to make my point via editorial photography. Just a thought.

I never said I'm against differences in opinions. I revel in them. My position is the same as yours : Differences in opinion are the foundation of democracy. I sorry if that's not what you got from what I wrote. You're correct about the elite and capitalism too. but it can only happen in a democratic society..So they protect it... Everything's a trade off.

My question is why isn't this a**hole working? Obviously, he's not in the group of 96.3% of Americans that actually hold down a job. Maybe all the Bush-bashers should give that some thought. I thought that this was a photography site (as some have actually commented on the merits of the pic) rather than another forum for the anti-Bushies to spew their crap. |

locking thread per op's request and the fact that this strayed way off topic as a discussion of photography. |
