It seems we are getting on our toes... hope the trend keeps up along the WPL as well.

I am on "After The Game", and not too shabby for now: oscilating around 6.1 (but not sure how this compares with the competition).

Nice job, guys! A couple more PBs in the works, and a pile of 6+ scores!

I am going to check your links, Natan, and let you know.
Thanks for working on that...

Good luck, hope you do well!

I ended up not doing either of the challenges for this week because I was unable to think of anything that inspired me. I have some ideas for the 2 new challenges, so hope to pull off something unique and inspiring, especially since our team competition starts up.

I also don't have an entry for an open challenge this week.

Here's my delema. I've been wanting a dslr for a long time and a few days ago I finally purchased the Olympus E500. I'm spending so much time learning how to use it that i haven't spent time with my p&s. I don't want to violate the team Point-and-shoot spirit so I'll keep entering using my p&s. Is that ok? It's going to be hard not to use the dslr though.

As long as you shoot your entries with your p&s, theres no problem...
I don't know how you will manage that for over a month, tho!
Can you do that?

FWIW I am jealous! As soon as I can bail on the ghetto cam, I will! Have fun with your new Oly

No kidding, the guy is smoking...
I think we'll do fine, though, and it will be lots of fun.

BTW, have you heard of willagher lately?

it would be very embarassing for a Canon 5D to lose to our P&S cameras - it goes to show how "weak" the people behind those expensive camera bodies and lens are (hope nobody from Team5D is reading this, hehe) :p

No doubt a good camera is a big asset, and can make a difference everything being equal. And those 5D guys are good too, but you know sometimes even the (suposedly) best and strongest lose... mostly if they are overconfident (hope none of them reading this either) lol

cool!

My goal for a long time has been to ribbon with that p&s. I've been trying real hard too. I think it can be done but it has to be on the merrit of composition or story.... I think absolutly everything has to be there that can be, because when it comes to image quality and other technical points the dslr's are hard to beat especially one with a quality lens on it.

btw does this month's free study count toward the wpl contest?

Yeah, true. They have sharper lens and more freedom with cropping due to this alone. I cannot use 100% or even 75% crops from my camera coz the image is too soft and the noise...uurgh. So it would be cool if TeamP&S eats the other dSLR teams out there - go go GO!!! (where are results gonna be posted?)

I don't think so. Neither the portrait/landscape ones.
It will start with the challenge being announced on Suday mid-night.

100% crop is when you are viewing your digital photos on your computer at 100% zoom. 75% means you resized your image to 75% of the original. and usually (for my camera) I had to resize to 50% before I get the sharpness and details I wanted for a DPC submission... Try viewing your digital photos (straight from camera) at 100%, 75% and 50% - you'll see what I mean about the sharpness and details.

Got it. Thanks a lot!

So, maybe if you try to use a lower ISO, such 50 or 80, would help in this case (not many P&S allow this setting though).
I normally shoot with the full 7.1MP on ISO 100 - I need to check some cropping I've done, but I guess some were more than 100%, and was fine (not wonderful but OK).

That is often how I choose which shot to work on..I look at all the results I like from a shoot at 100% and the pic that holds up best there is the one I start to edit. Sometimes a shot may have better comp and not be the sharpest at 100% and I'll try to make it work. But more times then not, I take the sharpest shot at 100% zoom and go from there...

OK Gang! The count down is on now!
I wish us all the best of luck, I know we can make our wee cams look good.
As a team we have had a pretty good week to warm up..

Also I asked the SC to move our thread to the side challenges area, so hopefully we will be over there soon!

Again, Good Luck! May the good Mojo be with ya!!
