Anything over 5 means your photo was well liked by quite a few people. Between 4 and 5 seems to mean either "reasonable idea but some technical issues" or "good shot but I don't get it". Below 4 usually indicates a photo that either had obvious technical issues or people didn't feel fitted the challenge.
Dont be put off by the scores here which often seem disappointingly low. Most challenges are won by photos scoring 7 point something and a score in the high sixes will often win you a top-ten place.
Best of luck!

The scoring seems to change dramatically as the amount of images increases weekly. Don't be proud of your score...be proud of your photo. I got 6.0 in a challenge, and it got me 20 something place. A 6.0 in last weeks challenge was like 60th place. So it's not really about the score. When I started, it was said that anything above 80th place was honorable. With the serious increase in photos though, it is probably more like anything above 110th place is honorable. That is probably average and above average. I kind of ignore the score (although I'm always curious) and concentrate on my comments, which are ALWAYS nice. Congrats on your first entry, and good luck! ~Heather~
