I will be taking photos at a Kid's (10-12 year olds) Halloween party. I am going to have my camera, a 2GB card, Hot shoe( external flash), my tripod and a back up camera. Can you think of anything else I may need to have with me?
They are going to have a Fog maker and special lighting, not sure what the special lighting is, any suggestions on taking photos in that enviorment?
Also, when using an external flash, is it true that I don't need my tripod? Should I speed up the shutter with the external flash?
Thank you! |

More CF cards?
Colored lights to make things "spooky" and/or gells for your flash.
A while ago, someone in the forums mentioned that if you use your flash on-camera and turn it upside down, you get a neat lighting effect that would be usefull at Halloween. |

More memory might be nice, but if you're selective about your shots 2G will do okay - shoot large jpg, RAW will take too much space. Fog machines can give a great effect, but can also clog the air giving you a horrible shooting condition. Fans are a must to keep faces clear of all that fog - you may want to bring one along. Use a high ISO for the darkish conditions and fastest speed you can get by with to "freeze" the fog. Other than that, fast lens and have fun! You'll do great, Kim.

Ear plugs? :-)
A rotating flash bracket would be nice to keep the shadows out of view and plenty of charged batteries for the flash. Also, the "special lighting" might include strobe lights, so I would keep your back to those so your meter doesn't go into a frenzy and give you dark shots. Have fun with it! |
