Ok, I wasn't getting any response in my other threads.
From a model's perspective, what would consist of a typical image portfolio?
I was thinking 6 headshots, two torso shots and 1-2 full body shots.
For the headshots, maybe include a B&W and an extreme make-up shot as well as a heavily processed moody shot.
Would they all be studio shots or would their be outdoor shots as well? Is variety better or consistency better?
On a similar vein, for a cosmetician, how many shots and how many models would be included in a typical portfolio?
Obviously the shots would be used to highlight the specific talents and specialization of the cosmetician (hair, makeup... haven't given much thought to nails...)

Bump. There should be enough guys out and about here to toss a rough answer out there...?
This is pretty important to me as I'm not a model and I've never tried marketing myself as a model.
I remember when I was a janitor for a film school that they usually had only one or two headshots in a portfolio for actors (they often left stuff open and lying everywhere on their desks - I wasn't rooting around). |

esch, I would think that sounds about right.
Def need a good head shot and good body shot.
Look in the back of your local/national photography mag and call one of the models in the back and ask.
If that difficult in Taiwan, I can do it for you here in the UK.
Let me know.
Also try www.modelmayhem.com and see if you can contact someone that way.
Good luck

Thank you. I will set about furthering this project more.
There are a couple of photography clubs that are not part of the school and I have a magazine of theirs, but in all honesty, they've only got a couple good shooters that regularly post quality stuff in their magazines... the rest of the stuff is pretty mediocre. Apparently that's the biggest club in TaiZhong (the second largest city in Taiwan)... The real pro's tend to be too busy for that kind of thing.
I will also try modelmayhem after class. Thanks! |
