I was fortunate enough to have a friend offer me a ticket for 3rd row center for the Eric Clapton concert last night. I would have loved to have taken my Dslr, but they said no cameras. I ended up taking my little Fuji P&S and got a few good shots. Beyond that, the concert was awesome from that close up. I hope you enjoy a few of the pictures.

You still got some nice shots! Did Robert Cray play with him or was he the opening act? Clapton is such an amazing blues guitar player! [/url] |

Actually, both. He was the opening act (Very good by the way!) and he played a couple of songs with Clapton. He came out during the encore to play and sing Crossroads with EC.
The other treat with this tour is having Derrick Trucks playing along. Man, can he tear up a guitar. It was amazing to watch these guys so close up.

The guy sitting in front of me was using a Canon S2-IS. From what I could see on his LCD, he was getting some amazing shots. I'm sure the IS was helping alot. Not to mention the 10x zoom. He had some great shots close up on the hands playing the guitar.

You do not even want to know just how insanely jealous I am. I'm a long time member of the "Clapton is God" camp. I had the good fortune of seeing him several years ago (though from the balcony, where badly behaved, poorly raised teenagers insisted on talking and wandering around) and the thing that struck me the most is that he doesn't seem to know the audience is even there when he plays. When he finishes a song he looks almost surprised - like "how long have you people been there?"
Insanely jealous, I tell ya.... |

You probably had an easier time than the pros... Clapton makes the photographers take photos from the mixing desk.
I saw him quite a few years ago, and I have to say I'm not really a fan. I would love to have seen him in his Bluesbreaker days though! |

One of the worst things about sitting this close is that I am now going to be spoiled. I'm not going to want to sit any further back ever again.
The concert absolutely rocked!!! The other guy sitting in front of me said that he had been to 31 EC shows and this was the best one he had ever seen.
Melethia, your right, he seems to get so into the song, when he finally opens his eyes has did seem to have a surprised look.
The other thing that I found pretty awesome is that he would routinely step back and let Doyle or Derrick or the keyboards take the lead. Some folks in that industry have such a big ego, they would never let anybody else take the front of the stage.
