This is a fabulous pic. I hope you don't mind that I gave it an edit. (The difference is hard to see in the thumb).
Boosted the eyes with lots of dodging and a little burning.
Boosted the overall contrast a tiny bit.
General purpose burning on the dark areas of the rest of the pic.
Oh yeah, I forgot, I also threw some USM on it to sharpen just a bit. (and for some reason I seem to have resized it...)
