Once the 30 days of the Pet Challenge is over, I'm thinking of starting a different sort of Speed Side Challenge.
A topic would be given, and you'd have three days to post one photo that fulfills the requirements. (For example, the photo must include a fishhook, a red rubber ball and 15 toothpicks). Then I would judge the best one, in my opinion.
What's the prize? Well, perhaps a special icon you could put in your signature.... but the real pleasure in winning would be that the winner gets to set the parameters for the following Speed Side Challenge, and be the judge of it.
Any thoughts on whether it would be worth doing? I know it wouldn't appeal to everyone, but it could be fun.

Red ball - the first thing that came to mind was the Gimp from Pulp Fiction... I'd shoehorn the fishhook and the toothpicks somewhere, too. |

The fishhook, ball and toothpicks is just an example - I won't actually require them for the first challenge, so please don't be stocking up on those items. The point of it is a speed challenge, and you won't know what's required until it's announced - just like regular dpc challenges. |

I could give it a go once pet stuff is over. |

Yep, not starting until after the Pet challenge is finished. |

Sounds like fun, I'd give it a go. My daughter just had a birthday party themed around photography. We did a scavenger hunt. One of the things they had to photograph was 57 fingers, no one could have less than 3 fingers in the shot, it was pretty funny watching them try to get that one. |

sounds like an interesting idea.
maybe if you sent all the participants PM's as well as posting on DPC, just in case we aren't logged in when it starts or something?

Interesting concept... logged in. I think I probably check the forums more frequently than my personal email, but that's perhaps weird in itself. |

better yet ... create a schedule of official posts to this thread:
example:
monday between 3pm and 6pm (EST of course) - First Challenge
Wednesday between 3 and 6 - 1st Challeneg Winner
Thursday between 3 and 6 - Second Challenge (decided by 1st chal. winner)
... and so on

Ok, so this idea seems to have enough interest ;>þ.
Each challenge would be in its own thread, with the "judge" setting the parameters in the first post. So, look out out for the "First Scavenger Hunt Photo Speed Challenge" thread in early November.
The judge can set what kind of editing is allowed (simple is best, i.e. from one photograph) and make it achievable by just about anyone. |

I've typed up the requirements for the first challenge. I'll post them a couple of hours after the next rollover (Wednesday afternoon here in Japan ;>þ) ... unless there's another Halloween challenge announced... |
