So I walked into the Finance department on campus today to talk to an academic advisor, as is required of all first year students. Now, I transfered into this college with a full bachelors degree under my belt and had decided to set about getting a Finance degree and I'm doing well with it so far and registration for Spring starts on the 30th, so I figured it was time.

The advisor took one look at me and basically said, "You don't belong here. You should be in a Masters program!"

And I protested, explaining that my first degree was nowhere near related to Finance or Business and that the GPA was rather craptastic, but he insisted that if I get a good GMAT score, with my seven years of lending operations experience, I should be a shoo in. And he added more than once that I would do "just great" there.

So I walked out twenty minutes later with a referral to CU Denver's MBA office. Now it looks like I may be taking the Spring semester off to take a GMAT prep course instead of the classes I had planned to take. It's totally crazy to me that I would qualify with my previous grades and coursework, but according to the school's website, I should be accepted without a problem.

So, uh, yay for sudden changes in plans? I'm overwhelmed by the idea, but very excited about it. I feel like I've just been told I'm going to skip the 8th grade and go directly to my junior year of high school.

LOL - that's kinda what I'm doing now. Working during the day, school at night. The courses would be more condensed and yes, less fluff, but I didn't have to take much (if any) fluff to begin with since I finished the first bachelors out of the way in 1997 and Metro comped my general education requirements accordingly.

It is what I've done since second spin at college then Univeristy then grad school.
Only once did one postsecondary (post HighSchool) stint without supporting myself - now I'm just taking photography/photoshop classes - possibly get a certificate .. ;)
thing there has been only a 2 yr streach when i haven't taken a class of some kind ..
