IMO it would be nice to have a "blind shot" challenge. By "blind shot" I mean a picture taken without looking through the viewfinder or at the live LCD. I think that this challenge could turn up some interesting candid photographs. |

The only problem is...if someone legitimately did that and took a pearler of a shot...would the voters believe that they followed the rules?

Cool idea! Shooting from the hip! Impossible to verify.

So what if it is impossible to verify? Should we pass on the fun of it?

Very true, something that looks shot from the hip might just be shot by a short photographer :-)

No I like the idea. But how do you prove it was from the hip? Have someone take a picture of you taking the picture?

Forget verifying it... let the voters decide on the POV. If someone wants to get on his/her knees and cheat, oh well. IMO, the results will be different than from a blind shot.

Well, how do you prove that a picture in the Rain challenge was not simulated using a garden watering hose? :) Or how dod you prove that a picture in Candid III challenge was really candid? Many challenge topics are hard to verify.
Besides, there is this look to candids shot from the hip that is hard to fake. |

no contest, (apparently) most of my submissions are taken with my eyes closed ;)
ok, there will be those that set the shot up on a tripod and shut their eyes whilst they hit the remote release but hey, they will be the good shots so we can mark them down lol
now, a challenge that 'gives the perception' of a from the hip candid (whether it be set up or not) sounds like fun :)

I vote for this one, verification be damned!
