what do we have to do to be a featured photographer on dpcprints? I have seen many 2 or 3 times and never mine. I am just curious.

Similarly, I have seen some of my prints come up as Featured Prints, some many times over, but others have never come up.
How are these selections made?

I've been curious about this too. I see many prints recycled as feature prints but others that I think are great I've never seen up there.
How are those and the featured photographer chosen? |

My guess would be that they are chosen from among the top-selling or "best" photographers on the site. The DpChallenge prints front page is a viewer's first impression of the site. If the prints featured there are anything less than stellar, a viewer not familiar with the site will probably close the page and go elsewhere.

After a little investigating I don't find that to be true, Clubjuggle

The featured photographers are chosen by the administrators (Langdon and I) and are placed in a rotating queue. If you feel someone should be a featured photographer, you're welcome to suggest that person. There are several photographers who have a bunch of good pieces, but then have several pieces I wouldn't want to repeatedly see on the front page of the site, so they haven't been selected. I actually have a plan for this (to allow us to select which prints of a featured photographer are shown), but that still needs to be coded.

Granted I'm biased, but I'd love to see BAMartin in the queue.

Hey Drew, if there are prints of mine that are keeping me from being featured, let me know and I'll remove them :).
How are sales going? |

Drew, I feel the same as Joanns, If there are print of mine that are bad please tell me or comment on the photos. I feel that more people need to comment on the photos so we know what is suitable and what is not.
I was commenting on some when it first started but not very many reconized them so I stopped. Maybe more people should comment so we know there opinion. I didn't comment on the ones that I thought would not make a good print, maybe I should. What do you all think?
Just a thought.

@Drew - I removed my Pi entry. Perhaps that was stopping me from being there? ;)
I'll add transportation and flora/fauna soon. If either needs to be left off for consideration, let me know.

i think the attitude that people think they need to take prints off the site because they won't get into rotation is silly. it's just like participating in a challenge here. different people like different things. it is impossible for drew and langdon to decide what will be universally accepted, although their reasoning behind their method is understandable. |

I agree. And as Drew says, there are plans to allow them to select which shots can be included in the featured section, so taking them off won't make any difference in the long run. |

It does make the exhortation on the print submission page to offer the just-posted print for public sale -- "it costs you nothing" -- somewhat disingenuous. I don't even know if I WANT to be a featured photographer, but it should be made clearer that the prints you make publically available can affect your status. |
