Okay, so I've never had anyone come to me and ask me to shoot their senior pictures before, so I had no idea what I was doing. I just said... let's go to Wheeler Farm for some pictures and see what happens. So that's what we did, and these are some of what I got.

I know these are big, and they aren't hosted on DPC so you can't leave comments, but I'd welcome any feedback right here in the forum that you might have. Thanks!

Since the sun went down, I suggested going back to my in-home studio for a few more shots. And that's where I shot these:

Overall, they look great, David. I would spend a little more time with processing (cloning) on the close-ups and I hate that she didn't do a single clothing change, but other than those two nits.... I love the variety of poses you tried; she'll have lots to choose from. You got some very nice, natural expressions too and that's not easy. Way to watch that light! :)

I'm no expert, but they look well done to me. A couple of the outdoor shots, her face seems a little dark, and the one of her leaning against the white brick wall, it seems a bit too red. But otherwise, I like the poses, and you got a good variety of them.

I'd say that the first outdoor shot and the indoor one with the reflective table (second in that series) are my favorites. The seem pretty relaxed and natural. Although if I were in her shoes, I'd have a hard time choosing for sure which ones to order.

Yeah, none of these are edited yet. (converted from raw and that's it)

And although she DID bring a change of clothes... she only had two. She arrived in a t-shirt. I did some "warm up" shots with her. Just playing around, getting her to feel comfortable. I didn't much like the t-shirt with writing on it and all. So I asked her to change and this is the only thing she had with her.

I kinda wished her hair was done up differently too... maybe that's just me. It seemed rather casual. But I'm used to shooting brides who go to great extremes to look good. So what do I know?!?

OMG I wasn't gonna mention the hair because I know you had no control over that, but that style really doesn't suit her face shape and looks very immature for her age. hehee sometimes you just gotta shoot what you get and you did good, David.

Is it just me... or does that hairdo look a tad bit like a poodles??

Okay, so it's not just me. I had a hard time biting my tongue wanting to ask if she had some other way that she'd like to do her hair for some of the pictures. I was scared stiff that maybe I might offend her. So I said nothing and kept on shooting.

I think you did a fantastic job with what you were working with. The one in the barn window and the reflective table are great. I agree about her hair, but if that's what she wants there isn't much you can do about it. The ones by the river don't do much for me .. she gets lost there. It was a nice idea though!

Why not just say is there another way you can do your hair so we can get some different looks with these poses? Perhaps if it sounds like it's part of the routine it won't come off as a put down?

Good advice - that's what I woulda said to do. OR you could find that "Comments you didn't have the guts to post" thread and get some ideas there. ;-P

As said, you did a great job! If this is your first, it won't be long before you're among the best around - I have seen some TERRIBLE senior portraits around here.
