A friend asked me to take some shots of his g/f's grandkids for a contest. After going through them, the mother chose these 2 to submit. If I can get some critique before submitting, I'd appreciate it.
 
Added: Almost forgot. According to the rules, editing must be kept to a minimum. Desat, cropping, brightness and such is allowed. But, layering is not.

Left a comment on each. They're both a bit dark and focus is off a tad. Might be able to edit into something really good within the rules though.
ps: If you want people to read your thread, NEVER use "Baby pics" as the topic. Try "Stupid Voters!" or "Do these breasts look too big?" or something like that. ;-) |

Thank you and I do like your titles better. I think the darkness is more due to the laptop I'm on. I'll work on them a bit.

On the 2nd picture, try the Shadow/Highlights adjustment in PhotoShop CS (or CS2) with the following settings and see what you think:
Shadows
- Amount 13%
- Tonal Width 40%
- Radius 30px
Highlights
- Amount 0% (i.e. don't use)
Adjustments
- Color Correction +10
- Midtone Contrast +10

Thanks David, but I don't have PS yet, only PSP 8. I checked and it doesn't have the ability t make those changes. But, I made some adjustments per Art's suggestions. Since they were shot in RAW, it was pretty easy to make the brightness changes.
 
I have come to the conclusion that I need more practice at editing. The main thing I see me needing work on is brightness. I'm afraid to make the photo TO bright. But, after someone suggests it, I make the changes and it comes out better.
Added: My Brooklyn Bridge photo is the perfect example and wait till you see an edit of my 'Faceless' entry. Took 3 suggestions and applied them...I'm currently hovering around 5.3x, I'll bet my edit would have gotten close to a 6.
