I was wondering if there is a better lens than the Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM...obviously within the same focal length. I want a wide angle lens to finish off my "collection" of lenses. Just curious what alternatives are out there, if anything. Thanks!

Well, the 10-22 is a super little thing. Everything looks very far away. |

For super-wide angle on a 20D, the 10-22 is hard to beat. It's a great little lens.

I'd like to try this once. 14mm F/2.8 L on a 5D but this damn thing costs $1800.

Sigma makes a 12-24mm. It's about the same price as the Canon though and not as wide.

There's nothing as wide on a crop sensor. your alternative is to go to a full frame and then get the 16-35L. When considering the cost, I'm sure the 10-22 is a great option...

sigma makes one w/ the focal length your looking for. i have heard all good things and its a couple hundred cheaper.
One thing to consider when buying any lens is that if you buy Canon lenses or L series lenses they retain their value much better than any 3rd party lenses such as Sigma or Tamron. This is important to me because if I sell something, I don't want to get 1/2 what I paid for it, I want more.
Ebay has used L series within $50 of the new prices. Definately something to consider.

I had the Sigma 10-20mm before I sold it along with my Rebel. It was a superb lens as far as I'm concerned. Tamron also has one thats gotten good reviews I believe. |

Tokina makes a 12-24 that is comparable to the Canon, it's much cheaper and comes with a case and hood. However, the Canon is wider and still takes better photos.
