For those of you who don't know Brad's incredible generosity, here's the story. About a week ago, I started a thread asking for help correcting the color on a picture of my grandmother; we were going to make a poster for her 90th birthday party in two days. Several people posted suggestions, which is typical for DPC and why I love this community.

Then Brad showed up and blew my doors off by offering to take the original enormous file via email (1600 ppi scan of a 4x6, resulting JPG was about 4MB), edit it for me, and send it back. That included not only color correction, but improving the background by cloning in a brick wall, correcting pixelation in the original scan, brightening her eyes, and other improvements.

I don't know exactly how long he worked on it, but it took him a couple of days to send it back, so it must've been a significant effort.

Why'd he do this for someone he doesn't know and will never meet? I'll let his words stand for themselves: "I would love to fix this for you as I know it's an important thing in life. Our elders deserve the best, and if this picture can bring joy to anyone's hearts, it's all that matters."

I've seen Brad put himself out before, editing other people's pics, and he's called out other people in threads he's started to congratulate them. But this was WAYYY beyond those examples of his kindness.

Yesterday, we got the poster, and it looks terrific. Can't wait to show it off at the party on Saturday.

Brad, you're one of a kind. I'd like to ask everyone reading this to help me repay Brad by showering him with comments:
bradp

Thanks again!

I'm guessing that's South African for "You're such a stud!"?

Art... this is definitely realistic!!!! shoot... today I had like 8 billion pages to read in my history boook.... and i had to pay like a trillion bucks to fill up my gas tank. And get this.... I went surfing and the water was like 2 million degrees below zero. My toes turned to isicles. So ya... three BILLION cheers... piece of cake... especially for a guy like Brad... he's one in a million!!

BradP is definitely one of those folks whose work and words I respect and admire here at DPC. There are many, many knowlegable photographers here, but the old saying applies:

"No one cares what you know until they know that you care"

Good going with helping out here Brad. Job well done!

Glad it worked out in time Jeffrey.
Was a fun quest and a great learning tool - better than any book imo.
