why don't we start a post processing challenge, where we all have to post process the same picture ?

The above post could very well be the funniest thing I've seen in years. Thanks for that!

I think I will go with yanko's.

Thanks a lot everyone.

Pretty quick attempt at it, and to make it worse I did it on the laptop thats not calibrated. I may regret posting this when I get home tonight. But I'm bored right now so thought I'd give it a quick attempt in PS 7.0

I think that is a very cool idea!!!! Maybe just a speed challenge or something. You should suggest it in another thread, if you haven't done so already. :)

But just watch out for that yanko dude - he'll steal your crop AND lighting.

Just kidding Richard.

Hey all,

Due to the tremendous work you guys are capable of, a handful of co-workers asked me to take their photos.

I really like the black/darker background with the spotlight effect/glow as seen in JRalston's edit.

Would anyone mind working the magic on the following 5 photos? I know it's quite a large favor to ask, but I'd be very grateful.

Here is my version in a Grunge Style (my first attempt using this technique)

PS: I'm suspecting about my monitor calibration. Is this image too dark?

Hey Brian,
I think an honorable thing to do for all that the members here have done for you in this project, is to spend some time returning the favor to this site in the way of participation, especially in the challenges & comments:

Your stats since you registered in May 2004:
Votes Cast: 67
Avg Vote Cast: 3.4328
Votes Received: 2999
# Comments:Made: 5
# Helpful: 2
# Received: 89

I thank you for the project, as since it started, I have learned how to lay down a radial gradient, then free transform it to a vignette, then blend adjustments and erasing back the person to the background layer to acheive the backlit look.

Ok, Here's my Gallery
. .

PS: Please send me a PM about the lighting in this photos. I'm suspecting about a bad calibration on my monitor. Thanks in advance.
