..well, sort of...

I just shot a few photos of a camera-shy friend of mine. I didn't get many, and the light was pretty harsh. Here are the best ones:

There are some focus issues, especially on the first one. On a couple of them there are weird shadows, too. Any comments welcome, especially about how I can make best use of the shadows or minimize their appearance in post-processing. On each image, I used curves, USM, dodge/burn, and levels. I haven't done much portraiture, so any photoshop tips are appreciated.

Here are some from Devil's Lake of another friend, these taken with the Lensbaby 2.0:

... there are a few more in my portfolio.

Critiques/comments would be awesome, and I'll try to reciprocate!

Nice job. I like 6280 best overall, good focus and I like the lighting even if it's not smooth and even like in most portraits. 6284 is also really good, a little unsharp.. for web you could probably sharpen it more even if the focus is a little off. 6252 has good composition, but again the face sharpness thing..

She shouldn't be camera shy at all, by the way

I realize I'm biased folks, but aren't these some great shots?

Nice work Andrea!! What a lovely model!!

Think I'd also like to see how that first series of shots looked in b/w.
