Hi guys and gals. I need to find a place to get a panorama printed. I have 8 photos that are stiched together to make one. Where would I go about getting this done? Everyone I talk to tells me that I need to crop it to fit their sizes? I'm not sure what that means to be honest because you obviously cant crop 8 photos down to one and make it fit any standard template. I also would like to know if you have had a pano printed what size did you have done and did you think it would have looked better bigger then you printed or smaller? In order to get 8 photos together its actually going to be rather long, but I dont want to make it so short that it hurts the effect. Any advice for a first time pano print?

I print mine on my Epson 2200. I can print 13"x44"
DPC Prints has several pano sizes. Upload your pict to the DPC prints area. I hear the print quality is very good.

I have looked for a good source for printing large panos (36" to 60" long. Most places I have checked want $80-130 for a print that large. I found a place here in Colorado Springs that will do a large print for $5 per square foot. Therefore a 12" x 48" pano would only be $20. I was able to see some of his completed prints and they were top notch.
His website is:

The site is not super-informative, but there should be a contact number. The guy I spoke with was Jeff.

Hmm I just spent the time refining everything to get my print ready for the 60X12 and its actually 60X8 which will be fine. I uploaded it for a printfile. But it doesnt give me any Pano print options at all. Anyone care to tell me the secret password? Or should I just contact site admins and see if they can tell me? Edit to add, I tried to contact help through the DPC site and all it will do is give me errors and not send the contact request. HMMM

At DPC Prints, the pano sizes are only available through the "public" ordering system, not under the "private store" area. You have to change the public price to the base price and order that way. I forget if you have to get the photo approved to do this -- you should probably submit a ticket to the DPC Prints section (under Help > Contact).
I haven't made any prints that big, but one way around the print size restriction is to "gang-up" two or more copies on one standard-sized print. For example, I've put two copies of a 6x18 pano onto a standard 12x18 print (from Costco) -- then cut apart. I also add blank canvas around the outside to fit the standard print size if the image doesn't fit exactly -- it can be covered or trimmed later. To me, this is much better than trying to make the image fit a standard size. |

I submitted a ticket last night and havent had a response yet. I wonder why they arent available through the private site? So I'd have to have my photo available for sale to the public in order to order it for myself? I'm not sure I understand that logic but OK. I'll try to move it over to the public site place my order and then take it back out I guess. Or maybe wait until I hear back from my open ticket. Thanks

The limitation on ordering through the private store is a "bug" from EZ Prints, the actual print supplier, which has been around from the beginning -- we've never figured out a more workable fix. Sorry, it's been frustrating for a long time. |

Thats OK, I just tried to move it over to the store so I could place an order and since it doesnt fit the deminsions they allow it wont let me move it there. My printed deminsions are 8X60 and according to what I've been told they offer 12X60, I would like it printed on that format then trimmed. I assume I'll just have to place an order elsewhere. Its a shame cause I wanted to try out the DPC prints. Thanks for your help.

Take your image file and set your background color to white (or black). In photoshop (ot other editor), increase your canvase size to 12x60. The additional height will fill in with white or black, or whatever color you set your color picker to. Then your image size will match the upload requirement. Once you receive your print, you can mat it to show only the desired print area...

Sometimes you can fit two (or more) images on the standard print size (ganging-up) and cut them apart afterwards. I made a 6x18 (3:1) panorama, and then put two of them on a standard 12x18 print. |

Thanks thats what I did, and I placed an order from DPC prints. I placed it Sunday and it still says its in the Que to print and this is Friday. Is the print service always this slow? My normal online lab would have them to me in 2-3 days after placing my order. Although they dont do Pano's so I guess I shouldnt complain. :-)

I have never ordered from DPC Prints, so I am not familiar with their turn around time. I would not be very happy if it is still sitting in the queue. I use Mpix and they are amazingly fast. I found a local business who can do large prints for $5 per square foot. I am going to try him out.
