I would say don't do that. I work in Customer service and well we hate people like you. Our job (and canons CS) is to try to help, It is not the fault of the person on the phone and yelling at them just serves to make their day worse, bring them down to the bad day level your at while they are wanting to help make your bad day not so bad. Yes they may not be able to get the prob fixed in the time frame you want but thats usually not their fault, and if you think it is taking a long time think about this, you pitching a fit and trying to get things rushed will only serve to delay others waiting in line. If you get put ahead of people already waiting..well all around its rude and mean. |
just sayin the quikest way to get to someone who knows what they are doing is to yell at the first person who picks up. In my expericne i get what i want quikest this way... sorry if that makes people hate me :/ |

He's got a point. I've dealt with everyone from minor stores to major distributers of aviation related materials, and they all seem to be the same - the first person you talk to is often going to read the "stock" replies from a book. To really get good help, it is often necessary to push and get a bit grumpy, and work your way up to someone who really knows what's going on, otherwise you lost in the system.
As to the OP, I'd start with the camera store and see what they had to say, since they were the last to work on it. Don't be afraid, you're the customer! Then maybe go to Canon.
And you know, a 400D isn't that pricy, and looks like a darn good camera, if you can't wait ;-)

You are all making me want to just go buy another one! TOo bad I have no willpower when it comes to my credit card! haha.
I think I'll probably just wait and see how much it will actually be to fix whatever this problem is. If it's a lot, then I"ll just go ahead and get a new one. We've only had the camera for a little over a year and a half, and it seems to be one problem after the other. I hope it's a manufacturer problem and that they just send me a brand newbie. :)
Until then, I"ll have to use my pentax. :( |

One hour photo, fast food. Americans "instant gratification mentality" ! Is this really what we have been reduced to? No wonder Europeans hate us. I hate us ! |

I'm so tempted to just run out and buy a new one. Holy credit card debt, but photography is an obsession!
any advice?

OK most likely scenario is that the repair isn't quite right. You just spent $250... it should work. I'm assuming that you haven't dropped the camera or anything. The repair should be covered by the warranty provided by the shop you paid $250 to.
I have worked in sales/customer service for years too. Personally if someone yelled at me my reaction was to do the bare minumum for them. They are being nasty why should I be extra helpful? I would make sure they got the standard service - no less and no more.
On the other hand if someone was nice and patient and had a recurring problem I would go out of my way to help them. YMMV.
If the customer was upto their 4th or 5th problem I would always make an exception. But yell at me on the first or second occasion - don't expect any extras.
As others have said the guy you yell at is NOT the one who caused your problem and does not deserve your rage.
If I have a problem and am not getting anywhere I calmly ask to speak to a supervisor who has the abilty to actually help me... works 99% of the time.

If you are serious about looking for a new one, you might check here.. The 20d is very reasonable right now, and is an awesome camera.

Yes, we decided we need to bring it to the original repair shop this week.
And, I am happy to say, I just got home as a proud owner of my new 400D!!! Yep-instant gratification got ahold of me!!! But, we are still going to fix the 300D becuase my husband confessed that he's jealous that I"m the one using the camera all the time. So now we each will have our own, and we are further into debt. lol. BUT we're both happy!!!
;)
Thanks everyone for all your help. :)

Do a Google lots of info there on your problem.
One of them suggests it's the type of CF card your using. ?Maybe try a different brand. Or below they mention the mirror.

Best of luck. I've never had that happen.
Oh P.S. leave the battery out for at least 10 mintues before you pop it back in.

May get a faster response but is that a good reason to ruin the poor schmoes day on the other side, problem with alot of people is they dont think how it will affect others when they act.
I will also say if your nice an polite but inistant on faster service or a diffrent responce you will prolly get closer to what your asking for without making an a$$ out of yourself. |

Be polite but be firm. When my Rebel broke several years ago I was able to obtain a free loaner from Canon. |
