So...I got a copy of Garageband earlier this week and I installed it and everything. But when I try to open the program it gives me the following message:
The Instrument Library is invalid. GarageBand expects a valid Instrument Library folder in /Library/Application Support/GarageBand.
Please choose a valid Instrument Library folder or quit and re-install GarageBand.
Then it asks me to Choose or Quit.
Ummmm....any help would be aaaawwwwesome.

Sounds like the instrument library got corrupted. Reinstall and that should take care of it. |

Check that location. If the folder is there (and not empty), then use Disk Utility to repair permissions on your drive. If it still doesn't work, then run the latest OS X combo updater from Apple (10.4.8 if you're on Tiger). If there's still no joy, then reinstall GarageBand. |

You should repair permissions, ALWAYS, after installing something new. I always do a back up if it is not Apple product before I install, then after run permissions form the Disk Utility or from Tech Tool Pro.
