Today was a good day!!! I came home and didn't have to worry about trying to figure out what kind of SP I was going to do. While it was a lot of fun, there was a lot of stress involved, as well. SMILE!!!

Laugh. Me too.
A friend who was following along expressed a little regret at it ending, as she'd looked forward to each day's offerings. I suggested she do it. :) |

So, a funny thing happened on the way to the forum....
It just-so-happened that the 30 days involved in our challenge happen to be 30 pretty ass-kicking days in my little world, so I got to capture myself at the top of Mount Everest, at the bottom of the deepest ocean valley, and some pretty strange places in between. But I've thrived on the pressure, the social life, the 30-day challenge, the WPL challenges and photography in general. Oh yeah, and I still have a day job, but it is a bit of a double-edge sword... I haven't been to my office in over 12 months, I work from home (400 miles from my nearest colleague) and that can get kinda lonely. You have to stay creative to stay engaged... that's my theory, anyway.
On Monday I posted day 30 and on Tuesday Team 20D lost in WPL playoffs, so I thought "hey, time for a break". I don't feel obligated to post anything this week, I'll just kick back for a bit. Well... Stephen King fans will call it slippage. I fell immediately into a funk and I don't do the down-funk. I'm ADD and a little hyper so the whole do nothing thing only gave me time to be sad and I HATE being sad. Soooooooo, lesson learned... I NEED my ass kicked on a regular basis; I need ridiculous self-imposed challenges; I need a water-tight community of friends, silly or serious; I need to keep moving and most of all I need to stay engaged.
So I have a bunch of commenting to do, I'll catch up. I'm so proud of everyone who took the dare of this challenge and showed us all a thing or two. |

30 day Macro challenge, cindi? LOL
I know exactly what you mean. I thrive on stress, in fact, I need it in my life. I have so much self-induced stress (mostly work related) that it's almost rediculous. If I don't have that stress, I start getting into a funk that is really hard to get out of.
By the way, thanks for sharing your highs, lows, and in-betweens with us. Throughout it all, you were inspiring.

*big grin* Thanks, guys. James, I wrote it, its saved to my desktop, one of the dozen projects I haven't done in the last 3 weeks. I WILL catch up, I gotta!
Erick - I'm going to keep going sporatically and work on my stock portfolio. :)
Edit: It was actually 3 weeks ago that things were in place to cause funk. Only stress has saved me.

To answer crystal's question:
It's a deer skull I found out on my 40. I was thinking of a southwestern shakespearean theme but it was difficult to see the skull with the full body shot (which was needed to show off the gams).

I'm still behind. Nothing from me today - getting ready for the packers to come get stuff to go into storage tomorrow.
I'm getting too old to move every three years. Seems like I just unpacked from the last time! And this time I get to live in an empty house for a month or so. That should be fun...
Time to take down the computer. I'm putting my big lovely desk into storage - I fear it too big for anyplace I can afford in Germany. I'll miss it... it's where I spend all my time when I'm home.
But I do get to keep the computer for about three more weeks anyway - just won't have anywhere to put it.
Hopefully I'll get a shot or two done tomorrow after the packers leave. Then it'll be time to get ready for the next group who are scheduled for next week to pack everything going overseas. 'Tis quite the adventure! |

Originally posted by Makka: Originally posted by shannylee13: okay if we wanna go forward with AWARDS i think we should start making the award categories. the more categories the better, IMO. no electing candidates yet, since the 30 days is not yet over! then... once the 30 days IS officially over, everyone can nominate one photo for each category, right here on the thread... we can allow a certain amount of time (?) for nominations. then we'll tally em up and post the winners! Anyone object? Would like to add anything?
AWARD CATEGORY IDEAS:
1. Best Lighting Techniques
2. Best Post Processing
3. Best Studio Shot
4. Best Environmental Portrait
5. Best Sad Photo
6. Best Happy Photo
7. Best Black and White Portrait
8. Best Outdoor Portrait
9. Most Unique Portrait
10. Best Nude Portrait
11. Best "Compilation"
12. Best Portrait |
This is a great idea....but....I HAVEN'T FINISHED YET!!!! ;) lol |
Yeah, I'm gonna go for two awards with one image... |
