Would you have known what you were seeing? I'm trying to figure out how to edit for these conditions. This is obviously a wild animal in a zoo. I can't ask him to move to better lighting conditions. I thought this was the sweetest thing, and I took lots of shots, but they all had blown parts because of the bright sun coming through the bush he was lying next to.

Personally I'd have taken the raw exposure, exposed it twice once for highlights once for shadows. Combined them to get the best of both worlds. Your right the way you have it now its tough to tell what it is. Another reason to shoot raw.

I've tried raw - but can't figure out how to convert from raw. I downloaded the software that everyone raves about, only to find out it doesn't work for my camera. The software that came with the camera didn't do anything except open the image in MSviewer. I'm sure it's just me, but I can't figure it out. Also, I can put about 260 high res .jpegs on my 1 gig card, it will only fit 40 raw.
