If I never see another cat again it will be too soon!
What is it with the HC challenge that brought all the pussies out?
Now I'm not saying they are all bad or all mediocre or even all good, just too many for my liking.
runs for cover waiting for the thread to overheat ;-)

I have made the very same question myself and also considered opening a thread, but chickened out thinking it would be to silly...
So, after seeing this one, I decided to give it a bump, with compliments to Falc for such brave initiative.
After a profound research and meditation (mostly if I should post this or not), here is my contribution to try to unveil this mystery:
1. The submitters misread the challenge title for "High CATtrust"
2. Cats are enigmatic animals, therefore nothing more appropriate on this controversial challenge where everything seems to go.
3. Cats reportedly have 7 lives, so there would be 6 more chances if the image fails badly.
4. Scientific: cats fur has an inherent property to reflect light in such a special way that digicam's CCDs are highly impacted, enhancing the probability of producing a high contrast image.
5. Cat owners are the most affectionate to their pets and just want to show them off.
6. None of the above – there must be something elseâ€Â¦

This type of thread fits a similar category of conversation that was brought out here: Sooooo Pissed...30 seconds late!!!!! vote now!
I'm certainly glad I don't have a photo of a cat entered in the HC II challenge...
...this type of thread really is out of place while the challenge is active IMO.
From the above referenced thread link:

Posting an image that was stated as "should have been" submitted to a challenge isn't a good idea while that challenge is active. The person should wait until the challenge has finished.
I've seen it too many times when conversations (threads) get started while a challenge is active and strong opinions get posted that can influence others' perception of what the challenge theme/content should be or not be.
For example - You have a shot of a grasshopper in a challenge with the theme of 'Green'. Someone posts an image in a forum and says I was too late - missed the deadline, how would this have done? Someone (innocently) makes a comment about how grasshoppers are too easy for this challenge and wouldn't have voted it very high. Well one thing leads to another and before you know it you have a full blown conversation knocking the use of bugs (grasshoppers, praying mantis, etc...in particular) for a 'Green' challenge. Now your grasshopper (insert any green bug here) shot starts tanking real fast after this "didn't meet the deadline" thread gathers steam. How would you feel?
It's more than consuming voters' time IMO. |

I disagree with your statement of similarity, though I resect your opinion. Sorry if I broke any DPC rules or ethics with my post.
I just think that, sometimes, people take things too seriously here and forget to enjoy and have fun...

No problem. Your post is fine. I just try to see things from other perspectives at times.
How would you feel if you had a cat photo in the challenge right now? |

You could say that you're in good company and that there are enough of them that no one would know which one was yours. :-)
(I shoulda entered my hi-contrast cat... ) |

Great positive spin! I love it. You know I like cats (have two at home myself) so much I might just have to go seek them out so I can give them a needed boost, if you know what I mean? :D |

I can't stand cats; and feel that anyone who has the nerve to post a photo of one should be drawn and quartered. If you don't believe me; refer to #s 27 and 38 of my The Unauthorized Beginner's Guide to DPC.
Thanks for starting this thread! I only hope we can get the word out, before the entire site is overrun by flamboyant felinophiles!
PS...you might want to check #44 too;)

so you moaning lot will not have looked here then and will not want to look at my blog.
I did not put a cat into that challange and i'm glad i did not because as soon as you posted this i'm sure the score would drop, posts like this should be stopped by the SC, i'm sure you ment no harm but can you realy say people will not be swayed in the voting, which is wrong. |

My score dropped as soon as this thread went up and it's NOT an image of a cat. I say, the "felinophiles" have likely now gone through and voted down all the non-cat photos as an act of revenge.

My score dropped, and I'm not even in the challenge! Oh, wait...I guess that was just my imaginary score; and it wasn't very high anyway. |
