Fellow photographers unite! Unite to present our resounding disdain for the number five to the ears of those who possess the power to smite it from the site. How silly that it should exist as an option for voting on a picture! What good is it to have a neutral number that allows the masses to "sit on the fence" as it were? It is an altogether wasteful use of pixels to form the very number! Voting for images would receive such a boon if the system omitted the offensive number.
Heretics would have you believe that by removing the number 5, not much would change. They should be burned at the stake, fueled by their numerous received 5's. By creating a dichotomy of higher numbers and lower numbers, we create a more dynamic situation where people would be forced to ask themselves "Do I like it more or like it less?" The answer will inevitably lead a person to make a decision about the image one way or the other. No longer will people be able to mass-click 5 to satsify the 20 percent threshold.
So join me, my brother and sister photographers. Join me in an attempt to eradicate the scouge of five, the number of the beast, as it were, from our sacred site! |

Good thing the true fence vote of 5.5 isn't on the scale ;-)

You probably don't want to hear this, but since 5.5 is the fulcrum on which 'like' and 'do not like' pivots upon, the voters are making a statement by choosing to vote 5.

I'd be willing to bet that, to most people, 5 is emotionally dead-center.
Regardless of the mathematically accurate statement that it's really 5.5. |

Hmm so if I just go vote 5's on every freestudy does that mean I win the prize?

I propose we vote in Binary.
0= Bad
1= Good
Plain and simple. Black and white. Rich and poor. Sickness and health.
