Two Exclusive Open Challenge suggestions to run at the same time:

Challenge: Ugly
Challenge Description: Shoot something pretty and make it ugly.

Extra Rules: No post processing except for resize, crop and save. So that means shoot in JPG mode. You can shoot in RAW/JPG mode but you must enter the jpg version as no raw conversion is allowed.

and

Challenge: Pretty
Challenge Description: Shoot something ugly and make it pretty.

Extra Rules: No post processing except for resize, crop and save. So that means shoot in JPG mode. You can shoot in RAW/JPG mode but you must enter the jpg version as no raw conversion is allowed.

Wrong title. It should have read "Ugly Challenge".

Whats the point? Are you just trying to come up with unique challenges?

I'm all for it! Why's it got to be pretty all the time?

That is the point of the Challenge Suggestions forum. :)

What's the point of a Camera "Self Portrait" or Peas challenge? I suggested it because yes it's different and maybe it will be challenging.

I think this would be an awesome subject. See a little bit of banale. there is not nearly enough humanity on this site. Maybe that subject will bring it out a little.

Great idea! I like that. I added it to my first post. Maybe an SC can rename this thread to something like this:

Ugly/Pretty Challenges

I like the idea, but I'm not convinced it's the right challenge for zero post-processing.

Maybe lighting and composition could be key in making something pretty look ugly and vice versa. Don't know if that was the idea that yanko was going for though.

My thinking there was to place the emphasis on showing your subject in a better "light" so to speak. In other words, using light, soft focus, composition, etc., to enhance your subject. If it were an advance editing challenge I think it would be too easy to make things pretty or ugly in photoshop but that's just my thinking.

ETA: klstover beat me to the punch! Grrr. :P

Take this

and make it look like

Nope, I don't have the skills for that...

That would be easy actually. Just print out Erick's mug shot (if the printer will print it) and have Cindi wear it as a mask! :P

Bump. I like these suggestions. Btw, can an SC fix the title? It should read Ugly and Pretty.

If you are going to allow resizing then you should allow sharpening. Otherwise you should just have everyone shoot directly at 640 pixels so the in-camera sharpening will work.

I like the idea...the latest few challenges and especially the woody and ducky challenges are, well, I want to be kind here...the word crap comes to mind though... :-)
