It is very flat. The pose is good but the lighting needs a little work and the contrast needs to be bumped up considerably. Perhaps with the contrast boost the lighting will look better.

Great pose and adorable baby! Overall I do not like the low-key feel for infant photography. Babies are bright, adorable, full of life, loving, etc. IMHO the lighting should reflect that. It should be brighter.
Also it looks like you cloned out the background. |

Should put Baby Warning rather than getting my hopes up for some DrJones-ish boobies to brighten my Monday morning! Grrrrrrrr. |

I do like the low-key look, given the serene nature of the pose. I do think it could use just a bit of work on the lighting. A little less harsh shadows (more diffuse source), a little more light on the face... maybe use a reflector?
It could also use a little more contrast, as a previous poster pointed out. |

I don't like the white background, the black one makes it softer and more serene. here's how I would have post prosessed it, but bear in mind it was pretty small so it's not perfect :)

I like Dog Angel's. I was going to suggest uping the contrast and maybe turning it black and white. |
