why don't we start a post processing challenge, where we all have to post process the same picture ?
it could be a portrait or landscape or whatever. |

I like the idea and think it could be very instructive, but I think that voter fatigue would be a serious issue. |

i agree, but then again, it's up to the photogs to come up with new creative new techniques to capture the voters |

Would probably need to be limitted to a certain number of entries... perhaps first come first serve or a lotery?

What about a non-voting challenge - more of a tutorial kind of thing where several folks are given the same picture to post process, then post it with all of their steps so everyone can learn from it. Folks with distinct "styles" would be encouraged to take part, if possible. |

Not as a challenge. Are you thinking of the head-to-head PP contests that took place a while back? Two people would have an image to play with and votes would be placed via comments on the image page. |

A group of us did that a while back, where someone sent out a pic and we all edited it. They were voted anonymously on my "Gallery" page, and the winner got to run the next round.
The last winner was Kirbic but he never started the next round. I would love to get it going again if there's interest!
Here's the first of them
If you search the forums for subject "Advanced Editing Contest", you'll see there were 4 or 5 of them.

Is it a deal where the winner then takes the next picture for everybody to edit. If not, that would be kind of a cool idea. Start with one photo, let everybody post and score, and then the winner of that would post a photo and so on. ...? |

I don't think crayon would take very kindly to that.
Did I mention already that I think a key part of this kind of thing would be sharing the processing steps? |

I'd like to play, though I'm not sure it would work well as a "contest" format. Though I guess if it's weren't, we could just do this in the forums. =)
Sharing the steps is key!
Edit: However it's done, can we make sure it's open to simple registered users? =)

No fair! You have that super-jumbo sized box of 128 "elite" crayons. All I have is the dollar store generic 12 pack. |

I bought 10 of the generic 12-packs, and the store clerk tossed in the one missing 4 out of it.

I think that is a fabulous idea. I agree with listing all of the steps (in detail) so that others could learn from it. I would love to learn more about PP. |

Would this be a regular challenge or one done in the forums? |

I would conduct such a challenge by letting people pick one of several pictures (maybe 5 or 6 alternatives). Post-processing should include things like cropping and rotating ...
This would best be done as a "side challenge" in the forums, for now anyway ... |
