Like in this guy:



It's for a senior portrait. I don't want to try to eliminate it entirely, just knock it down a notch.

Healing brush? Clone stamp?

Any techniques you want to share, run them by here.

clone at 20% opasity with a soft brush, IMO

Ralph's suggestion was good.
The healing tool can be too radical at times.
A soft-edged brush at about 20% and grabbing pixels all around the offending red areas and works well.
Try and keep the hint of texture for the reality-look. If it gets too smooth, run the manual sharpening tool
over lightly at about 10-15% until some jaggies start, and manually blur back lightly if needed.
No smoothing, blurring or noise reduction was done here. I did take the libery of adjusting the white balance though.
