Just curious to know how this would've done vs. what I actually entered. The reason I didn't enter it was the wording of the challenge of "2 or 3 separate photos" part and this is 6.

It's not that I'm disappointed or upset about the photo I entered or how it did. I like it just fine. I just thought this one told a little better story than just the plain triptych.

I guess I was afraid of the challenge wording hurting me more than the quality of my pictures and/or story of them.
Just curious to know what you guys think... Thanks - Bob

I loved the original and I love this - are those 1 and 1 and 2 and 2 - do they match up...? If they do, why not keep the whole pic together, crop it down keep it? I would have voted it down on triptych wording, but I like it a LOT. I'd have called it "Yes...NO! - Perspective" hehe

I actually like the series of just the batter. Those 3 shots are more interesting to me. :)

I like the one that you submitted more. 6 is too much.

I like the one you entered a lot better. It tells a story, whereas the one with six photos tells two stories, dividing the viewer's attention.
The one you entered is wonderful just as it is! (I agree with the others that lining up the dirt would be cool, but I wonder if that wouldn't make it look too much like there were three people instead of one -- I think it's fine as-is) :) |

I think it's unanimous, your submission was the stronger image. Your score certainly reflected that, a pleasant surprise not doubt!
Very nice composition, focus & color balance. Great motion capture. Did you use several pitches, or shoot in burst mode?
I realy like the crops as they are, but I wonder what would happen if you cropped tighter horizontally to enlarge the pitcher, but left the vertical crop alone? |

Thanks everyone for your input. The 6 images were taken from the same at bat, but not on the same pitch. I did shoot it in burst mode. I did several pitches that way. The reason I chose this one was the middle pose. Its exactly what I wanted. I left the crop the way it was because the pitcher needs somewhere to go. I really liked the one with the batter better, but its so much shorter, it would've been even smaller.
As for lining up the dirt, its possible, but it would look positively silly in the end. My pitcher would've had to get smaller with each successive frame. The dirt on the left side is smaller than the dirt on the right. Its not much and maybe it wouldn't have mattered that much, but I was happy with it like it is. The pitcher on the right would've also ended up dead center of the frame, moving up with each frame.
Thanks a lot for your input. I had 2 series that I really liked. I combined them and I liked that too. In the end I chose the taller one. The batter series was the minimum height and only because I used a 10 pixel border on top and bottom. You guys rock!!

I posted this before in another thread, but only got one comment...
I am not a member so could not enter in the Triptych challenge. Here is a triptych I quickly made up from photos I already had. All taken and image edited during the submition dates :o) I thought I would give it a try. What do you think?
PS I hope this link works because I had trouble last time...

Pretty cool Fiver. Would like to see the planes with the wings straight to the horizon. Possibly moving them in the frame from the left (bottom) progressively right as you go up. I really think the naturally backwards approach is a very good idea for a vertical triptych. As is I think it would get a "fiver" from me, but make some slight adjustments and I think it would gain as much as a couple more points.
