I use Energizer 2500 mAH rated rechargables they work great and have nice refresh time on the flash. I used them in my Olympus Fl36, FL50, and my Sigma 500DG super, and now in the 580EX and the canon battery pack. When they fail they fail quickly. But they seem to last a good number of recharges before they fail. You can get a set of 4 with an 8 hour charger for $20 at walmart.

| I heard that NiCads are best for faster recycle times but may not last as long as NiMHs. |

REALLY? rechargeables? I haven't even thought of rechargeables assuming that they would have slow flash recycling times and not last long at all

I can shoot over 350 shots on a set of 4 using ETTL with rechargables and they just begin to slow down late at night. I've been using them for quite a while. Now with the battery pack having 8 and the flash having 4, I've never run out of fast refresh time or had them even become discharged even shooting a couple of games before recharging. I recommend them highly. I also recommend getting a couple of sets and using the slow 8 hour charger, over the 15 minute charger. Just seems better on the longevity of battery life. This is my opinion, your mileage may very.

I use the rechargables also. Just make sure you get the 2500mAH ones.

| I have some sweet 2650mAh Duracell NiMHs. I don't know how many cycles they last, but they seem to last forever... I'd also recommend the slow charger to the 15min ones... They do less harm to your batteries |

I use the Energizer 2500mAh ones also, they work well. My sunpak 555 takes 6 batteries, and I can usually get over a hundred shots if I just took them off the charger.
The power does leak out of them if it justs sits, though, which might be partly due to my cheap old charger not charging them full enough. |
