Took this pic earlier this week. Sadly here nobody cares to become involved. Sadly it is something happening in every country. Who really cares.

Sadly, many of us care, but are powerless to help, even in our own backyards.
(hadn't seen this pic till now)

It's a tough system. Can't take action until something actually happens, which prevents false accusations, putting kids & adults through trauma in case it was unfounded, yet kids are often too scared to blow the whistle.
Trust me, I know - I had to take my 2 kids away from their Mom, and even with the child protective services support (many warning signs, some very disturbing), couldn't do squat unless something actually happened.

Sorry to see this Doc.

Like brad said, many of us care deeply, but even when we try to do something, it doesn't seem that anything can be done.

In my immediate area, it seems that DSS (child protective services) goes after the "easy" cases which are often times *not* child abuse (you would not believe how many homeschooling families I know that have been reported for not sending their kids to school), but seem hesitant to go after the serious cases that can be hidden for years.

It is terribly unjust, and while I am a sympathetic person by nature, I simply do not understand how someone could purposely hurt a child.

Your own comment is 'it is taboo to get involved'. Rather disingenuous to lament the fact that no one is doing anything to help the kid when you seem to respect the bounds of the culture that legitimizes his abuse. If it bothers you that much, a cultural taboo shouldn't stand in your way.

Good luck.
