Read this question, come up with an answer and then scroll down to the bottom for the result. This is not a trick question. It is as it reads. No one I know has gotten it right---including me.

A woman, while at the funeral of her own mother, met a man she didn't know. She thought this guy was amazing, so much her dream guy, that she believed him to be just that! She fell in love with him right there, but never asked for his number and couldn't find him. A few days later she killed her sister.

Question: What is her motive in killing her sister?
*
*
*
(Give this some thought before you answer).

Answer: She was hoping that the guy would appear at the funeral again. If you answered this correctly, you think like a psychopath. This was a test by a famous American Psychologist used to test if one has the same mentality as a killer.

Many arrested serial killers took part in the test and answered the question correctly. If you didn't answer the question correctly, good for you.

If you got the answer correct, please let me know so I can take you off of my email list unless that will tick you off, then I'll just be extra nice to you from now on.

Yeah, I came to the same conclusion when I first read this a few years ago. It seemed perfectly logical to me! I wouldn't do it myself, but still...

The woman in the story killed her sister. A motive was asked.
I'm pretty sure majority of people when asked and given this fact alone,
will think from the perspective of a "murderer", and thus answering in that predicted manner.

OK, I'm hooked. Try this story and then answer (case study for the American Psychologist's test). I personally think that the lack of information in the story, and carefully given facts is actually misleading the listener to answer the test....

Paul haven't eaten in a day. He was gravely hungry.
He is in a public park with very little people. There is a half-eaten BigMac lying on a park bench. Paul goes over and picks it up....
Question: Why is the motive of Paul's action?
.
.
.
.
.
Answer: If you thought Paul was going to eat the BigMac, it shows you are a unhygienic person. But wait, is that a fair assumption towards you?

think about it for awhile :)

Paul is going to eat is the first thought that comes to mind, but not due to the fact that someone is unhygenic, but due to the fact that he might have seen lot of poverty. Then, other ideas come in, like the question does not mention that paul can not / can afford to buy the burger if he wanted. He probably has not eaten for some other reason.
Personally my second thought was, he picked it up so that he can put it into garbage can.
But by first thought I become unhygenic, but by my second thought I am the person who loves cleanliness. So any conclusion about me would be difficult.

My only thought was the person who wrote the question was very poor at grammar...

I did, you've got a problem with that? :p
Forgive my bad grammar - English is not something I'm very good at.

Yes, but most likely not the killer sort of nut :-)

I came up with the right answer after a little thought. My thinking was, why is the mother's funeral included in the riddle. Then, how is the man related to her. He had to be there because she knew her, and possibly the family. The sister, of course knew that, and in desperation, killed another part of her close family to try to bring him back. Perfectly logical.

But, why would the mom and the sister know the man, but not her.... LOL

Depends on his situation. I would guess he'd eat the bigmac if he couldn't afford other food. But if there are only very little people around maybe he could mug a few easily and buy a new bigmac.
