Good evening all! I've just spent 6 hours sorting through over 3,000 images. I shot stock today. It was fun. Anyway, here is the shot that got the day started, my SP for Day 26...

This will be the final post in this thread on the censorship issue. Anyone who wishes to discuss it forther is invited to start a new thread to do so.
That nudity is an acceptable art form on this site is not being called into question, nor is the fact that the specific images in question are permitted on the site.
At issue is our need to balance the desires of certain individuals to post those images with the desires of individuals who do not wish to view nudity in this forum (for whatever reason) to benefit from the valuable information in this thread, and from the forums in general.
If our goal were to censor nude images, we would prohibit posting them altogether. Our goal is simply to provide viewers the opportunity to make an informed decision before viewing an image. Our method for doing this is Rule 7 of the Forum Rules: "When posting potentially adult content, include a warning. When possible, include the warning in your subject line. If you are posting in an existing thread, consider carefully whether the content is appropriate for the thread. If it is, include a warning at the beginning of your post. Unless your warning is in the subject line, any images must be linked rather than thumbnailed or posted directly."
Please understand that this is not a matter of simple prudishness. People can lose their jobs simply because a nude image -- even a thumbnail -- happened to pop up on their screen at exactly the wrong moment. All that we ask is that when posting nude images to this thread (or to any thread without a nudity warning in its subject line), that you consider the needs of your fellow participants, and use a link rather than a thumbnail.
Finally, I would encourage all participants in this thread take a moment to review the Forum Rules, as quite a few were bent or broken in this shouting match. I'm sure everyone had good intentions, but by familiarizing yourself with these rules, you can help to prevent these types of arguments, or report posts when appropriate, so we can defuse them before they get out of hand.
In particular, be sure to note the following:
7. When posting potentially adult content, include a warning. When possible, include the warning in your subject line. If you are posting in an existing thread, consider carefully whether the content is appropriate for the thread. If it is, include a warning at the beginning of your post. Unless your warning is in the subject line, any images must be linked rather than thumbnailed or posted directly.
10. Do not publicly accuse other participants of rules violations. If you believe a rule has been broken, report the post and do not reply.
11. Do not attack other users. This includes "calling out" specific comments or commenters in a hostile manner. Personal attacks are never appropriate in a constructive discussion. If you disagree with another participant, address their points without attacking them personally. Be aware that others may have differing opinions of a personal attack, so use care when posting. Please note that this includes publicly "calling out" commenters (whether by name or not) in a hostile way.
12. Do not bait or provoke other users. This does not promote civil discussion and will not be tolerated.
14. Above all, play nice. Be aware that the above rules are not all-inclusive. If you stir up trouble to prove a point, or engage in a pattern of disruptive behavior, we will address your actions, even if those actions do not violate any specific rule listed here. We will also handle any issues not specifically covered by the rules on a case by case basis.
In the interest of getting this thread back on track, please post any further replies to a new thread.
~Terry

Day 24 - Darn you IT guy... (IT guy \/\/hatever)
Run into to the legal office, throw the camera on the desk, hit the timer and boom...actually Rebecca is a good sport and knew what was going on.
Note: Throughout the forums you will encounter a lot of debate about the Tamron 17-35mm 2.8-4 and the Canon 17-40mm 4L... Many will say the 4L Quality (subjective) out weighs the 2.8 of the Tammy.
I personally like having the 2.8, as all of my SPs in this challenge that I use the 17-35mm have been taken indoors with existing light only @ 17mm f/2.8 (ISO400 or 800). |

I'm VERY tired. Walked nearly all of Boston this evening. My feet hurt. But mostly I'm a wee bit worried about my camera. Normally I'm a klutz. No coordination whatsoever. In fact, the instructor kindly asked my mother to remove me from my ballet class when I was five. I was deemed utterly hopeless.
So I'm walking around Boston, taking in the sights. The sidewalks are brick in a number of places, and there are "cutouts" where the trees grow. So, figure I'm walking around, taking in the sights, and what do you think happened? Yep. Walked into one of those cutouts and down I went. Hard. I think the UV filter is now permanently attached to my lens - I'm sure it's bent, and it's definitely jammed. Sigh. Any clues as how I might eventually remove it?
No SP this evening - I posted 24 last night anyway. And Crystal, hopefully I got a shot or two I'll post for you sometime this weekend!
P.S. Mike - love you, dude. James - keep an eye on him for me, 'k? Welcome back again, JP! |

Thanks, Deb. And James is keeping an eye on me...he's the best.
I did the Boston walk a couple of years ago. Loved it. Did you find the school on School St. or the court on Court St.? Boston is a gorgeous town.

Had to laugh - two people saw me go down and came over to ask if I was OK. I was just sittin' there staring at my camera. Didn't even consider whether I'd hurt me or not! And nope, didn't see a school on School Street or a court on Court Street, but had a great walk! Hopefully got a shot or two of the USS Constitution but sure could have used a wider lens for that. Got dark shortly after we started, though, so shot most stuff at ISO 1200. Gotta love grain! Still waiting for the card to finish dumping to the laptop.... |

Day 25. It got a little scary that far outside the box yesterday, so now it's time to retreat.
