You would think that saving a file with included text in it in .jpg format with Photoshop would be easy but, of course, it is not.
Does anyone out there have any tips on how to save a photoshop document that includes text in it in .jpg format so that the text is actually clear?

I'm not sure what exact problem you are having... Could you maybe do a sample and post it so we can see the problem you are having?

I'm just gonna take a guess. I think you must flatten the image to save it properly. Go into layers, and choose flatten image.

I have to agree with Jacko. If you don't flatten the image then all the properties of the image can't be saved. I found out the hard way. :) |

Maybe as well add the text AFTER your image is resized and saved below 150k, but the you would have to changes the fonts sizes. |

Lionelm has a good point. It is usually better to add text AFTER you resize your image to DPC standards. Using text BEFORE you resize means that you're distorting the text to be smaller. Also, it may be that the font you chose just doesn't work well on the web, so try different fonts to find out.
Good luck!

Steve,
I just finished my "postcard" submission (nothing like a little procrastination!).
I did not have trouble saving from PS, and I did not flatten prior to saving. I reccomend adding the text at full resolution, always better to have a smoother edge to work with prior to downsampling.
Make sure your font is not too small, you don't have alot of pixels to work with. I started with 24 point at my original vertical resolution of about 1500px, so at 480px vertically (final size) I'd have to be at about 8 point. |
